Up to no good

Carnival at the local community center to support Relay for Life.  Peter was a pro at this field goal game.

Rock Band time!

Hula season is coming

Strawberry picking time at  River Bend farms

 The kids were berry-picking machines

We also visited opening day at Detering Orchards, and enjoyed a hay ride...

 ...and this awesome apple launcher.

Last day as a first grader!  Every kid had one of these clips that were used on a daily behavior chart.  Cashel earned a jewel each day she was extra, extra good!

We're going to miss Maestra Screen!

Saying a summer goodbye to her friends Brooke...

 ...and Amaya

Mom got a crash course in making traditional la'i (ti leaf) skirts.  The leaves get de-boned and trimmed to size, tied onto a length of rope, and then shredded.

 Cashel's skirt took 100 leaves.

10 hours and 10 green fingers later, here's the finished product!

Dad got the kids a cricket lollipop.

Peter declared that he would eat the cricket...

 ...Cashel, not so much.

In the end, they both tried it but decided the cricket didn't taste so great.  We're so proud of our adventurous eaters!

The Halau performed at a Ho'ike (show) in Ashland, at Grizzly Peak Winery.  It's good practice for the upcoming competition in Sacramento.

The girls performed their group kahiko (ancient style) hula about King Kalakaua.  Check out those la'i skirts!

Cashel also performed her solo kahiko about Queen Liluoukalani.

She also did her solo 'auana (modern style) about the beauty of Lahaina, Maui.

And finally the group 'auana about Waikoloa, another beautiful spot on Maui.

All the dancers did a great job!

Post-ho'ike dinner at the Black Bear Diner.

March 1, 2013 to May 26, 2013

 Fun at the store

Cashel's diorama about the fennec fox.  If you look closely, you can see where she used extra hau grass from her grass skirt.

Cashel played spring soccer this year.  She had six games (3x3 scrimmages) during the season, and had a great time!

 Sweetness

 Afternoon hike to Alsea Falls

Cashel got to take a tour of the Franz Bakery in Springfield.  Highlights included seeing the largest oven this side of the Mississippi, getting free bread, and rocking the hairnet.

After lots of practice, Cashel learned how to ride her bike!  She and Daddy have been taking lots of rides this spring and she's doing great.

Always wants to be like big sister

Fun with buddy Jade before the big fiesta performance.

Here's Cashel's first grade class and their performance of Danza Kuduro

Some very strange lambs at the Wildlife Safari in Winston
